Nominated by coworkers Tina Stanyer and Gloria Chadwick and their fellow educational assistants at Chemainus Secondary, Shelley is a beacon of positivity who “empowers those around her, inspiring greatness in everyone, regardless of age. She is our go-to person, our safe haven and our sunshine on rainy days.” Tying in to her charity of choice, the BC Cancer Foundation, Shelley‘s husband was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in March but partway through a series of treatments was declared cancer-free this summer. “If not for the doctors and their knowledge and skill we might not be in this boat,” she writes. $5 from the sale of every Dracula’s Demise pizza sold in October will be donated to the foundation.
